Since the establishment of the church in Poland, brothers and sisters have applied for residence permits from the Polish government but have not received a reply. Thank the Lord, in mid-February, two sisters from the team were granted temporary residence permits issued by the government until 2025. God wants to show His glorious will and deeds in Poland.
On February 17th, we held the "Celebration of 600 Days of the Shelter Centre" at Topolowa 40. Since the lease of the shelter expires at the end of February, many current and Ukrainian residents who have moved out attended the celebration. We played games, gave thanks, sang the Ukrainian version of the hymn "Home Sweet Home", and gave each other gifts. Some residents were even moved to tears. They thanked brothers and sisters in the church for their loving care, and selfless dedication in the past 20 months. They said that the church's shelter centre is different from centres run by other organizations because there's love, care and a sense of belonging here, which makes them feel like they have "a home" in Poland. They also treasure to be able to come close to the Lord together and to participate in cell groups and Sunday meetings. This has helped them to learn many basic biblical truths and practices in spiritual pursuits. We are also very happy and comforted to see the spiritual growth of our brothers and sisters.
There were a lot of relocation matters to be dealt with at the end of February. We sincerely thank some sisters who came from Hong Kong to help clean the reception centre. They became the support and help of the team and enabled the relocation process to be completed smoothly. At the same time, we thank the Lord for preparing a temporary house for the team, which has enough space to store church supplies. The surroundings of the house is quiet, giving brothers and sisters a good environment to draw near to God.
As February is the Lunar New Year, we co-organized the "Red Packet Lantern" workshop with a non-profit organization, Multicultural Centre in Krakow. In addition to explaining traditional New Year culture and how to make hanging lanterns, we also prepared New Year snacks during the event. This attracted people from different ethnic backgrounds to participate. They enjoyed learning about Chinese culture and the language. This encouraged us to run Chinese classes in the future and to come in contact with different types of people.
